When James confronts her, she shoots him and escapes out the window. Caroline then attempts to drive a car into a government motorcade to assassinate the Ambassador. She is wearing an explosive vest. Wax blows up her car with a rocket launcher but she escapes injury. James then catches her and tries to persuade her to abandon her murderous ways. She ignores him and James is forced to kill her. The mission complete, Wax decides to leave France. He is so impressed with James’ performance that he asks him to be his partner, promoting him to a full-time CIA operative. Filmen utspelar sig i Paris och handlar om James Reece (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) som arbetar som personlig assistent åt USA:s ambassadör i Frankrike, men drömmer om att bli agent för CIA. Bärandes på en kinesisk vas fylld av kokain dras Reece med på ett våldsamt dygn innehållandes slagsmål, droger och prostitution. Det ställer till problem när Reeces älskade flickvän Caroline (Kasia Smutniak) börjar ifrågasätta vad som händer, samtidigt som antalet döda kroppar ökar. Som så ofta sker i actionfilmer får historien stiga åt sidan. Logiska luckor och osannolika sammanträffanden får man liksom köpa för att hitta njutning i filmen. Vissa av actionscenerna är snygga, om än något utstuderade, men de är ackompanjerad av riktigt dålig musik som gör att filmen får en cheesig känsla. Musikvalet går hand i hand med utseendet på Travoltas karaktär. Och jag förstår inte varför Travolta gång på gång försöker köra sin karriär i botten genom att välja onyanserade roller, för detta är långt ifrån den han gjorde i "Pulp Fiction" (Q. Tarantino, 1994). Hans agent måste vara den sämsta i Hollywood. Trots allt är "From Paris with love" ändå en ganska rolig film med helt okej skådespeleri och manusförfattaren Luc Besson, som även har producerat filmen, har fått till en del oanade vändningar som ger filmen mervärde. Det är lättsam underhållning som funkar om man är på rätt humör. Därför blir det en något avbruten tumme upp. Om inte annat så är det mer okej än vad jag trodde att se Travolta som en hårdnackad buse med rakad skalle, stora silverkedjor och en långt-ifrån-pk-attityd.
